Course description

What will I be studying? Planning Preparing Cooking Eating!! You complete a range of topics/projects eg: increasing and developing food practical skills, mass production, healthy eating, functions of ingredients etc… How will I be assessed?

Course content

There are 4 units to complete: Unit 1 = coursework with the focus on Nutrition - worth 30% Unit 2 = written exam with the focus on Sustainable Design - worth 20% Unit 3 = coursework with the focus on Making Quality Products - worth 30% Unit 4 = written exam with the focus on Technical Aspects of Designing and Making - worth 20% What can I achieve? A GCSE from A* - G. Important life skills in cooking and preparing food. Possibility of completing the ‘Basic Food Hygiene Certificate’ What else do I need to know? You need to bring ingredients to practical lessons as the emphasis is always on practical work – you must cook!!!! You will need to use ICT. If you want to be creative, show flair and be inventive, choose Food Technology. After all, this is the only subject in which you get to eat!! Units can be taken twice throughout Years 10 and 11
