Access to HE: Fashion at South Thames College

Course description

We're running this course with our partner University of the Arts London (UAL): London College of Fashion. If you want a career in fashion, this course will help you prepare to study at university level.

Course content

Topics include:

  • Fashion theory
  • Fashion design
  • Studio practice
  • Pattern-cutting and drawing techniques
  • Study skills.

Entry requirements

You'll need to show knowledge of the subject and a commitment to research and study at this level. Many universities ask for GCSE English and maths A*-C for entry onto their courses so ideally you'll have these already. If you don't already have A*-C in GCSE English and maths, you can take an English and/or maths assessment with us and still get onto our Access course depending on your results. You should always check the entry requirements for the courses and universities you are interested in progressing onto.

Assessments take place throughout the course with essays, assignments, presentations, tests and exams. Your work will be assessed internally and reviewed with the London College of Fashion tutors and you will receive feedback on how to present your work portfolio. To gain the Access Diploma you'll need to achieve 60 credits with a minimum of 45 at Level 3.

Future opportunities

You can apply directly to the London College of Fashion (UAL) undergraduate courses. We will help and support your applications either directly or through UCAS.
