Art & Design (QCF) Level 2 OCR Technical Diploma at Walsall College

Course description

A multi-disciplinary art and design course that allows students to develop skills in fine Art, Photography, Sculpture, 3D, Graphics and Textile areas. Course work is often linked to live projects (delivered in conjunction with our partner organisations) which enables you to gain insight into the professional context of creative industries. You would be developing independence and identity as a young practicing artist or designer through experience of various areas of art and design and exciting projects.

The course works as a springboard for progression on to either various Level 3 art and design courses, such as Fashion, Art and Design, Graphic Design and Interior Design or even employment. It will give you confidence to make informed destination and progression decisions through specialising in a discipline of your choice whilst refining your skills in that field.

The course is divided into units, which cover a number of topics.

These include:

  • 3D visual communication
  • Working with graphic design briefs
  • Using ideas to explore, develop and produce art and design
  • Building an art and design portfolio

In the final stages of the course you would be creating increasingly more sophisticated outcomes to be exhibited as part of the end of year show. If you are a creative individual and love art and design, this course would be suitable for you. You have to be up for the challenge and love working in a practical way.
