Proficiency in Baking Industry Skills Level 2 Apprenticeship at Buxton & Leek College
This course teaches you how to prepare, process, mix, mould and tray up finished dough products, as well as developing your skills in a wide range of pastry, savory and essential food control measures. While you're in college you will take part in practical skills sessions, portfolio building and theory and IT sessions. You'll work alongside others as part of a team.
This course is suitable for you if you're already working in a bakery establishment or if you already have a Level 2 or 3 professional qualification in either food production or cookery skills. This course is an Apprenticeship and you’ll spend four or five days in work and one day in college.
You'll get the best of both worlds - college and work - so you'll learn and earn a wage. You'll develop the professional skills you'll need to work as a junior baker or within a working bakery setting and your employer will work in partnership with us to deliver your training.
You'll need to be working in the bakery industry in a job where you can develop the range of skills covered by the course and where your training will be supported by your employer. You’ll also need 3-4 GCSES grade D or above in English Language and ideally Maths or an equivalent qualification.
You'll be assessed while carrying out tasks in college and your workplace, as well as through your portfolio and a question and answer session.
You could go on to the Advanced Apprenticeship in Craft Bakery, the Advanced Apprenticeship in Professional Cookery or the Advanced Apprenticeship in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership afterwards.
