GCSE: History A at Ashby School
Students will cover the following four topics: • History of Medicine c3000BC - present • The American West c1840 – c1895 • Ireland c1900 – present • A site study of Ashby Castle. This course runs until 2010.
Students can take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in History. Alternatively, they may need to strengthen their grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, students may choose a history-related career, such as becoming a teacher, economist, conservation officer or archaeologist. Students may also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of an employer. This GCSE course provides an excellent route to study beyond the age of 16, both for History A level and other post-16 qualifications.
