Bench Joinery Level 2 Diploma at Bridgwater College
This course will appeal to students who wish to follow a career in wood occupations. The Bridgwater College Construction Centre is a dedicated facility for construction craft in wood occupations, with workshops that are well-equipped with a range of carpentry tools. Well-appointed classrooms and computer facilities enhance the workshops and provide a link between practical and knowledge aspects of the course.
The course is split into core units and Bench Joinery trade units;
The range of work you will cover includes:
- Timber technology
- Advanced hand tool skills
- Power tool skills
- Advanced woodworking joints
- Timber ironmongery
- Understanding access equipment
- Health and Safety
- Handling equipment and materials.
You will need to have a level 1 in carpentry and joinery. You will also need to complete a successful interview and induction.
Carpentry practical coursework will be marked through set practical tasks. Underpinning knowledge is assessed via internally-set test papers and an online exam; however there will be a need to complete a multiple choice test that is externally set by the awarding body.
You could progress on to an Apprenticeship in either Bench joinery or Carpentry & Joinery if suitable employment is gained.
