Hair and Beauty Level 2 at Lancaster and Morecambe College

Course description

This course offers the opportunity to learn the skills necessary for employment in the hair and beauty therapy profession. You will learn techniques which are in demand from employers. 

Course content

You may study study the following: • Health and Safety • Client Care • Manicure and Pedicure • Waxing • Facials • Eyelash and Brow Treatments • Anatomy and Physiology • Dressing hair • Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp • Cut Women’s hair • Colour and lighten hair

All LMC students will receive tutorial support and take a programme of Functional Skills including Maths and English. Whilst on the course, you will also be given the opportunity to go on a work placement. 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A*-D including English or maths OR a Level 1 related qualification. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.

Assessment

All work is assessed by on-going theory and practical assessments. Knowledge acquired for all units is tested on-line throughout the course. Theory and practical work is to be collated ion a portfolio as evidence of knowledge.

All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE Maths, English if not already awarded an A*-C in these subjects.

You will need to buy: • Uniform – £47.00 approx. • Level 2 hair and beauty kit - £115.00 approx. Optional enrichment course prices which will run depending on availability throughout the academic year: • Spray tan - £25.00 approx. • Professional Beauty Manchester - £10.00 approx. • Clothes Show - £20.00 approx. Future opportunities

The course can lead on to the Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, the Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing or Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Make-up, employment in beauty salons or self employment.
