ITQ Level 2 Apprenticeship at Swindon College

Course description

This course is suitable for people employed in IT roles whose responsibility is to use IT applications in support of colleagues or customers in any sector or industry. 
The programme consists of two mandatory units for the knowledge element and one mandatory unit and a number of optional units for the competence element. A minimum of 38 credits must be achieved, with the mandatory knowledge units providing 12, the mandatory competence units providing four, leaving a further 22 credits chosen from the optional units. 
The most appropriate units will be selected with the support and guidance of the assessor to ensure they are aligned with the type of work undertaken. 
The choice of units is given below. 

Mandatory; Understanding the Potential of IT – knowledge, Developing Personal and Team Effectiveness Using IT - knowledge, Productivity Using IT – competence. 

Optional; User Fundamentals, Using the Internet, Using Email, Personal Information, Management, Bespoke software, Database software, Data Management software, Imaging software, IT Security, Desktop Publishing software, Presentation software, Spreadsheet software, Website software, Word Processing software.

Entry requirements

The Apprenticeship is open to those aged 16+ in suitable employment who hold GCSEs, (or equivalent) at grade C in English and Maths, (please note that 
funding restrictions may apply to 
students aged 19+. 

Please contact the Apprenticeship team regarding exact fees. Apprenticeships are currently not available to those who have a degree, HNC, HND or equivalent Level 4 or above qualification.

Assessment

The assessment of the competence units is via assignments and the examination of work product via observation and discussion. The knowledge units will be assessed via written questions. These assessments will be planned to suit the learner with robust feedback provided on each visit.

Future opportunities

On completion of the Apprenticeship, Apprentices can progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship for IT Application Specialists.
