Motor Vehicle:Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Level 2 at Suffolk New College
You will have the opportunity to demonstrate and build on your skills in our state of the art, industry standard workshops. You can visit motor shows and exhibitions, while also having the opportunity to test your skills in the World Skills competitions and to exhibit your work at local shows. The study programme will also develop personal, social and employability skills, which includes opportunities to work on community projects and to explore the various career pathways within the automotive industry and various visits and talks from local employers, who will tell you what you need to get a job in the industry.
All students who have not achieved a grade C or grade 4, or above in GCSE English or maths or both will need to study an English or/and maths qualification alongside their chosen main qualification.
This qualification covers the demands of today’s motor vehicle maintenance repair industry. It provides the essential skills and knowledge for service technicians working on vehicles in garages and dealerships. You study both theory and practical aspects of the subject through completion of specialist units such as, Job Roles in the Automotive Environment, and Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring Devices used in the Automotive Environment. You will gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety. Practical activities are completed in fully resourced workshops led by highly competent and qualified staff. You must pass all practical and theory elements of the programme to achieve this nationally recognised qualification.
A profile of GCSEs at grade D or grade 3, (or their equivalent).

On completion of this qualification, students will be competent to work as a Light Vehicle Service Technician; following further training and development, students can progress to a range of jobs at Level 2 and 3 such as a Light Vehicle Diagnostic Technician, Service Adviser, Service Receptionist or Maintenance Controller.
