IT Diploma Level 1 at Sunderland College

Course description

This course is for people with a keen interest within IT who would like to progress in this constantly evolving sector. It will enable you to start building the technical skills and knowledge relevant to an industry (or industries) in the IT sector.

Course content

During this course you will study topics such as:

  • Improving productivity
  • Using IT
  • IT fundamentals
  • Desktop publishing
  • Using the internet
  • Website software
  • Imaging software

Entry requirements

You will need to have a standard of literacy and numeracy supported by equivalent to one GCSE at grade G.

Assessment

You will be taught using a range of teaching techniques including lectures, web 2.0 tools, group work, quizzes and collaboration via the latest technologies. You will complete projects set with an employer focus and gain valuable experience through realistic working environments.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course you can progress to the BTEC Level 2 in IT or into employment requiring specialist IT skills.

    • Bede Campus is located just outside Sunderland city centre on Durham Road.

      It provides an excellent learning environment for academic and vocational courses including new state of the art science labs and a dedicated learning resource centre with internet café, helping ensure the quality of our education is matched by our facilities.

      As the dedicated campus for our sports provision the Sports Academy building spans some 30,000 sq.ft and features a includes a multi-use sports hall, sports science performance lab, sports massage treatment areas, exercise studio and fully equipped gym with TechnoGym cardiovascular machines. The campus also features the multi million pound Goals Soccer Centrecomprising of 10 floodlit all weather synthetic pitches. These facilities are used extensively for lessons and are also available free of charge for any of our students.

      Spanning 50,000 square feet, the Visual and Performing Arts building features a theatre; film screening room; media/TV, drama, dance, art, and fashion and clothing studio; two industry standard recording studios; a music technology suite; photography studio; dark room and film processing facilities.       Bede Campus also features three on-site cafe including the brand new refectory and a Starbucks in the new Visual and Performing Arts building for all students.
