Music - Level 2 Diploma Music at Calderdale College
This course is designed to develop skills and understanding of the music industry and music technology equipment and software using our digital and analogue recording studio and computer suite with a range of music production software.
On this practical work related music course you will look closely at the music industry and begin to learn to compose and perform music. DJ skills are included in the syllabus for those who wish to pursue this career route.
Teaching will consist of 360 hours guided learning hours of practical workshops, group discussions, research projects and theory based classes.
4 GCSEs at Grade D or above or a relevant Level 1 Qualification such as NCFE Contemporary Music Practice or equivalent. We will consider applications from learners without the necessary entry requirements. A basic level of IT skills would be very beneficial as the course requires a lot of computer work.
Interview with Course Leader/Tutor. Learners will be required to show enthusiasm to learn and a commitment to the course.

In most cases students aged 18 and under who wish to enrol on a full time further education course will have their fees waived. Students who are aged 19 and over and who wish to enrol on a full time course should contact our Student Services Team on 01422-399367 for more information.
Successful candidates may wish to progress to the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Music Technology or BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Music. Career opportunities include: studio and live performance within the industry.
