Introduction to Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (Beauty Therapy Route) Level 1 at Middlesbrough College
This course is for anyone aspiring to become a beauty therapist. It will cover practical and all aspects of theory, with an assignment or online exam to cover each unit. You will carry out a range of services on clients within our brand new Francesco commercial hairdressing salon. You may have the opportunity to undertake additional optional qualifications such as hair extensions (this may incur an additional cost). This course may include 9.00am start times and a late night. You will develop skills in a realistic working environment with sector relevant work experience.
The units will cover: - - Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector. - Presenting a Professional Image in a Salon. - Introduction to Skin Care. - Hand Care. - Introduction to Nail Art. - Applying Basic Make-up. - Themed Face Painting. - The Art of Photographic Make-up. - Reception. - Health and Safety. All learners to study English and Maths You will attend approximately 4 hours of theory sessions a week You will attend approximately 9 hours of practical sessions a week
To secure a place on this course you will need to possess four or more GCSE’s at Grade D or above including a minimum of a Grade D in English (or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the College). You must also undertake a successful interview and provide a satisfactory reference. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."
Practical- A minimum of 25 Summative assessments. Theory- There will be mixture of online exams and assignment work to cover each unit.
Students can seek employment as a beauty therapist or become an apprentice if they find an employer. There is also the opportunity to progress onto a Level 2 course in Beauty Therapy.
