Child Care Level 2 Apprenticeship at Mediprospects

Course description

This qualification will help you gain the skills, experience and qualifications for a rewarding career in child care.

If you are sympathetic and caring, interested in the wellbeing of children, good at communicating and working as part of a team, a career in child care will be fulfilling and satisfying. The industry as a whole faces a chronic shortage of staff and skills.

Course content

An apprenticeship in childcare will provide you with the skills and expertise to work within childcare settings – such as nurseries, day care centres and schools.

With your newly acquired skills, you will play a vital role in the learning and development of children, equipping them with social skills and the skills they need for interaction with others.

The course covers tasks performed by a nursery assistant and will help you develop a professional working style, safe working practices, awareness of the work environment and communicating effectively with colleagues and customers.

The course will not only improve your motivation and morale, but will make YOU the instrument of bringing best practice to your place of work, will open up significantly better prospects for promotion, give you deeper job-satisfaction, a recognition of your skills and expertise – in short make you a far more valuable employee.

You will cover areas like:

  • Introduction to communication
  • Introduction to personal development
  • Introduction to equality and inclusion

Assessment

You will be assessed using a combination of assignments, online tests, oral questioning, a portfolio of evidence and by practical demonstration and observation of your on-the-job activities. You will attend classes for a few hours one day a week, and spend a minimum of 30 hours per week at work.

Future opportunities

Should you choose to, you can progress on to an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3.

This course will help you establish and secure your footing in the various careers within the childcare sector, starting from entry level jobs like being a Nursery nurse or Childminder.

Demand for qualified childcare workers remains high and as with most Care related sectors; there is a shortage of qualified and able workers.

This will also put you in a position to further progress into career paths within Early Years Care, Children’s Services and supervisory positions within childcare settings.
