Course description

In English, you will study and respond to a range of texts, both literary and non-literary. These will include works by Shakespeare, other pre-1914 texts, as well as more modern material. You will be required to write in a variety of styles and forms and there will also be a spoken English element. The course in English Literature will develop from the English course and will involve the detailed study of a wider range of texts. Both English and English Literature will be assessed largely by final examinations, though there will also be coursework in each subject. An anthology of poetry is required study for both subjects. There will be two tiers of entry, Foundation and Higher.
