Art & Design BTEC Level 2 Diploma at West Herts College

Course description

Build on your current skills, further developing solid artistic foundations and begin to identify specific talents and aspirations. This course will also help you prepare for your career – learn to be creative while working within a brief.

Course content

This course is a springboard for studying art and design at a higher level. Following a broad introduction, the focus is on project briefs across the specialisms of:

  • Graphic design

  • 3D Design

  • Textiles

  • Visual arts

Through visits to galleries and exhibitions you’ll learn to view and record the work of artists and designers. In addition, you’ll study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs (A*- D) or completion of the Level 1 programme and a portfolio of work. You will then be invited to a course introduction meeting.

Future opportunities

You’ll be ready to progress on to Level 3 – continue with Art and Design or specify in your preferred discipline, such as Graphic Design, Photography, Fashion or 3D Design.
