Course description

Studying Psychology is an ideal subject choice if you have an interest in understanding human behaviour from a scientific perspective, it allows students to engage in contemporary debates through an understanding of research.
The course will enable you to hone your analytical and organisational skills and learn about scientific research methods, including collecting and working with data. It permits an integrated account of cognitive, social, biological, developmental and individual differences. Through studying Psychology it enables you to consider questions such as: Which is more important, nature or nurture? What is intelligence (and why should we care)? How can we get our working memory to work for us?
 

Future opportunities

Progression after Sixth Form: Psychology is a respected academic subject which combines well with a range of subjects, including Arts and Sciences. It enables students to cultivate their critical thinking skills and essay-writing abilities. A Level Psychology is good for progression to Higher Education, but also is particularly useful for any profession where an insight into human behaviour is beneficial. Students in the past have used their qualification in Psychology to further their interest in Law, History and PPE.
