Our Level 1 programme brings to life core engineering subjects spanning electronics, mechanics and manufacturing.
At Bournville you will experience an interactive way of learning. Practical and experimental classes offer you hands-on experience to complement your course's more theoretical modules, while innovative design-build-test projects replace the more traditional lesson & lab sessions.

Unit 2 Developing Skills in Making Engineering Components Using Hand Tools
Unit 3 Developing Skills in Using a Bench/Pedestal Drilling Machine
Unit 7 Developing Skills in Electronic Assembly
Unit 8 Developing Skills in Wiring Electrical Circuits and Components
Unit 10 Developing Skills in Routine Servicing of an Electrical/Electronic System
Unit 11 Starting Work in Engineering
Unit 17 Working in a Team
Unit 20 Interpreting and Using Engineering Information
Unit 21 Engineering Marking Out
Students who have qualifications at entry level and/or 4 GCSE grades E or above will be considered. Students must be able to work towards a Level 1 qualification in Maths and English Language. All students will also be required to attend and satisfactorily complete a formal induction period.
This course is assessed through a range of activities such as assignments, projects, presentations, teamwork and practical activities. Assessment is continuous throughout the course.
Students who successfully complete this programme will be eligible to apply for the Level 2 BTEC First Extended Certificate in Engineering. Alternatively, students can progress onto employment.
