Course description

This one-year vocational course re ects the unique nature of science learning and spans the three disciplines of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. it is designed to lead students on to the Level 3 BTEC applied science course.

Course content

it consists of four mandatory units.

  • Principals of science (externally assessed)
  • Chemistry and our Earth
  • Energy and our universe
  • Biology and our environment

Entry requirements

You should have achieved a good range of GCSEs (or equivalent) mainly at grades D and E.

How will I be taught?
There is a wide variety of methods, including teacher led work, group-work and pair-work and practical based work. You will be expected to give presentations to the group as well as producing individual assignments. Handouts and videos also form part of the course. It builds on existing knowledge and abilities to prepare you for assessment in one academic year. ICT resources will also be used.
