Business & Administration Level 2 Apprenticeship at Richard Huish College

Course description

The Business and Administration NVQ Certificate level 2 is intended for people whose role involves carrying out a broad range of administrative activities, requiring a limited amount of supervision and working with some autonomy. The individual will be working as part of a team ensuring the provision of information and resources to others.

Gaining an NVQ can help to reduce the margin of administrative errors and improve efficiency within an organisation.

The NVQ Certificate Level 2 is intended for people whose role involves carrying out a broad range of administrative activities that require a limited amount of supervision.

The NVQ Certificate will be carried out in your workplace. All other Apprenticeship requirements will be completed at Huish Business School through day release. The duration is approximately 12 months.

Course content

Some areas covered include:

  • Managing your own performance
  • Evaluating and improving your performance
  • working in a business environment
  • communicating in a business environment

You will also have the opportunity to:

  • contribute to decision making
  • organise an event
  • deliver a presentation
  • solve customer service problems
  • analyse and report data

Entry requirements

All Apprentices are required to complete the components listed below in addition to the NVQ Certificate: Technical Certificate Level 2 in Business and Administration

  • Supporting the business environment
  • Working efficiently within the business environment
  • Functional Skills: 
    - Maths Level 1
    - English Level 2
    - ICT Level 2 
  • Additional Apprenticeship Training (Value Added)
  • OCR Text Production Level 2 Business Professional.

Assessment

The NVQ Diploma will be carried out in your workplace. All other Advanced Apprenticeship requirements will be completed at Huish Business School through day release. The duration is approximately 18 months.

Future opportunities

You can progress to level 3 NVQ and the Advanced Apprenticeship scheme. More details available on request.

    • Huish is situated on the edge of parkland overlooking fields and hills, about ten minutes walk from the town centre.

      Huish is committed to encouraging you to travel to college by cycle, public transport or car sharing where possible. There is a cycle path to the College taking you to Vivary Park so that you don’t have to walk or cycle with the traffic along South Road. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to college from the bus station but many of the buses students use come directly to the campus.
