Games and Broadcast Media Level 1 Diploma - UAL at Stoke on Trent College

Course description

This course is designed for students who want to progress to our Level 2 Games and Broadcast Media course.  Are you interested not only in playing video games but in how they work, and how technologies such as iPhone, social networks and motion-sensing controllers are changing the games industry and have an interest in the world of TV/Film or Radio Broadcasting?  If so, then this course is an ideal way for you to develop your knowledge and technical skills.  The course will help you to develop the knowledge and technical skills required to progress to Level 2 in Computer Games Design or onto other Creative Med1a Production courses.  You will gain a solid foundation in media and computer games principles and technologies, will explore a range of software and techniques as well as learning how to develop your own ideas and designs.

Entry requirements

2 GSCE's grade E - G (new grade 1-2 in English/Maths) or relevant Entry Level qualification.

Assessment

The course is taught by a team of specialist lecturers including working professionals who aim to help you to gain the most from the course.  you are also allocated a personal tutor who will guide you through the course as well as organising any support that you may need.  The course is delivered through a mixture of practical workshop, lectures and self directed study.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you will be able to progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Computer Games Design and Broadcast Media or alternatively to an Art and Design course.  From the Level 2 programme you can progress to a Level 3 Extended Diploma  in Computer Games Design, a Level 3 in Graphic Design & Digital Imaging or a Level 3 Broadcast Media programme.
