Chemistry A-Level at The Ridgeway School and Sixth Form College
What will I be studying?
You will learn about chemistry in a modern society, covering aspects such as minerals, medicines, polymers and environmental chemistry. The course covers the basic fundamental building blocks that are necessary to the understanding of the world around us.
You will continue to learn about chemistry in a modern society, covering aspects such as new polymers, organic acids, transition metals and organic synthesis. Many of the topics will focus on ways in which chemistry relates to the environment around us and how we can begin to limit the changes that are occurring.
Where can it take me?
A Level Chemistry supports other science subjects and geography. Chemistry is essential for careers in medicine, veterinary medicine and pharmacology. It is recommended for nursing, physiotherapy, forensics, environmental or biological sciences. It is useful for banking, accounting, teaching and engineering.
At least 4 C grades at GCSE (or equivalent) in at least 3 different subjects.
