Health & Social Care A level at Havering Sixth Form College
This course is suitable for students with an interest in Health and Social Care as a career. It focuses on how to care for clients in different care settings and explores a range of health conditions, human development and behaviour. Students can progress to a Health Studies degree or to nurse or social work training, or primary teaching.
You can expect to:
- Develop independent research skills
- Develop an understanding of the skills needed in a health and social care setting
- Take part in discussions and give presentations
- It focuses on how to care for clients in different care settings and explores a range of health conditions.
One grade B and four grade Cs at GCSE, C Grade English and Maths GCSE, A keen interest in Health and Social Care.
Exam Board - AQA
50% Coursework, 50% Exam.
You can go on to a Health Studies degree or to nurse or social work training, although students are advised to carry out a relevant work placement in their own time.
The course is also suitable for progression into primary teaching alongside national curriculum subjects.
You could also go straight into social care employment, although you would be required to take a vocational qualification whilst working.
