Photography BTEC Level 3 Certificate / Subsidiary Diploma at Leyton Sixth Form College

Course description

This BTEC Certificate Photography introduces the characteristics of studio photography ,Visual Recordings, Location Photography and the ways in which photographs can be created through the effective use of photographic technology, techniques and media in the studio and on Location. Working with industry standard equipment you develop technical skills into studio and lighting setups, whilst planning photographic shoots on Products, Portraits and Fashion and developing your own ideas and concepts in the second year of the course.

 

 

Course content

You will develop your visual language with reference to key practitioners and historical and contemporary examples of studio photography. Creating studio and Location photographs using technology, materials and techniques you will also review your work from technical and aesthetic perspectives. Learners will also develop an understanding of the importance of health and safety in the studio environment. Students who successfully complete the BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Photography can go on to study the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Photography which is the equivalent to one full A Level.

Entry requirements

Once we receive your application form we will invite you to attend a interview with examples of photography work. 4 A*- C, including C/Merit – Drama/Expressive Arts or C/5  English; Audition

Future opportunities

Students who successfully complete the BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Photography can go on to study the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Photography at the College, which is equivalent to one full A Level. Successful completion of the full programme can lead to photography and creative courses at university level.

What are the enrichment opportunities as part of this subject?

The enrichment opportunities as part of this subject include visits to exhibitions and galleries and work experience placements. Photography students also collaborate with other Expressive Arts courses which involve theatre production and dance photography projects. Towards the end of the course students will be involved in the marketing and planning of their own exhibition.
