Decorative Finishing Apprenticeship Level 2 at Bedford College
This Intermediate Apprenticeship will allow to you develop real skills and knowledge in painting and decorating that you can then demonstrate and provide evidence of in a real working environment. Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes: you work and get paid to gain industry qualifications. This course will combine the practical hands-on experience of the workplace with the knowledge and understanding gained through a College course. This Apprenticeship will take up to two years to complete.
This course is centred around self-directed learning, where you will:
- Use access equipment
- Prepare surfaces for decorations
- Apply paint by brush
- Apply paint systems with spray equipment
- Apply wall coverings
- Apply specialist decorative finishings.
You must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a minimum of 30 hours per week in a relevant job role and have a keen interest in painting and decorating. Some evidence of studying at GCSE level would be an advantage.
You will be assessed via a variety of methods, including work-based assessments and the completion of tasks and assignments in College.
On successful completion of this course you could progress on to a wide range of job roles in the construction industry; including, with experience, including occupational work supervision, management and technical support areas. Completion of this course will also allow you to progress on to a higher level qualification, such as a HNC/HND in a relevant subject.
To take part in this course it is essential that personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times in the workplace and in College workshops.
