Enrichment: CE:ET (Centre of Excellence for Environment Technologies) at Buttershaw Business & Enterprise College

Course description

The CE:ET is an innovative educational partnership between BBEC, the University of Bradford and our Director Companies, including Associated Waste Management, British Gas, Cummins Turbo Technologies, NG Bailey and Yorkshire Water.

 

As a students at the CE:ET you will develop the knowledge, skills and personal qualities to advance your prospects of higher education, vocational training and employment across the growing STEM and ‘Green’ sectors - employing over 6 million people across the UK.

 

You will follow our innovative STEM and vocational-based curriculum and work towards three valuable qualifications:

· An OCR Extended Project Qualification (EPQ);

· A gold CREST Award from the British Science Association.

 

The CE:ET curriculum will also support and enrich your other STEM A-level subjects, firstly, through our programme of practical work delivered in our £2million STEM laboratory at the University of Bradford and, secondly, through strong ‘real-work’ elements and guaranteed paid work placements with our Director companies.

 

Personally you should have an enjoyment of learning and an aspiration to develop a highly paid STEM career, together with the personal qualities to work with professionals from across the educational and business sectors.

Course content

We provide an innovative course developed in partnership with the University of Bradford, our Director companies and BBEC to offer students experience from across the STEM and Environmental Technologies sectors. The course is pitched at A-level standard and focused on also supporting students other STEM A-level subjects.

 

 

Entry requirements

You also choose to study least 2 other STEM AS-level subjects from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Technology.

Assessment

Assessment for both the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and the Gold CREST Award are based on performance in the compulsory project. This project is chosen by the student.

 

The EPQ is equivalent to an AS subject.

 

The Gold CREST Award is a qualification highly respected by Universities.

There are paid placements for CE:ET students with our Director Companies.

Future opportunities

The CE:ET supports a range of pathways into STEM careers, including apprenticeships, entrepreneurial opportunities and progression onto University degrees. The CE:ET has strong relationships with our business partners of Associated Waste Management, British Gas, Cummins Turbo Technologies, NG Bailey and Yorkshire Water to secure these pathways. Ultimately over £6 million people are employed across the STEM and 'green' industries and the CE:ET provides students with the right knowledge, skills and qualifications to succeed in these sectors.
