Motorcycle Maintenance and Repair Diploma Level 1 at New College Stamford

Course description

Gain an introduction to the motor vehicle industry and develop your experience using basic tools and equipment; motor cycle engines and engine systems, motorcycle chassis systems and motorcycle transmission and drive-line components, in our brand new motor vehicle workshops.You will have the opportunity to meet a variety of guest speakers to develop your knowledge of different career opportunities in the Automotive industry. You can also take part in regional and national competitions such as World Skills Build which has seen the very best in Construction compete for over 45 years.This course is approximately 50% theory and 50% practical.

Course content

You will learn both in the classroom, with theory based discussions, multimedia presentations, worksheets and hands on practical learning with guided motorcycle chassis component and engine dismantling and rebuilds. All materials used to support your studies are also made available via the internet.You will be expected to undertake 1 week work experience in a related industry environment. While we will help you to find the work experience, in some instances it may not be possible to gain this; if this is the case then you will undertake a week of employment related activities.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at grades D or above including English, maths and science at grades D/3 or above.

Assessment

You will be assessed through a combination of online phase tests, online theory exams and practical assessements. You will receive ongoing feedback to help you develop your skills and prepare for future assesments.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you can progress on to Light Vehicle, Motorcyle or Motor Sport Maintenance and Repair Diploma Level 2.

Further information

You will require a uniform consisting of steel toe capped boots and overalls which can be purchased directly from our website. During your interview you will also sit an online suitability assessment. The result of this, plus your previous academic achievements and maturty will determine the level of course you are offered.
