Politics A Level at Southfield School for Girls Specialist Sports and Science College

Course description

Politics is often regarded as an activity that has the potential to be a little ‘dirty’. Politicians are increasingly seen as dishonest and obsessed with spin and image, rather than real issues that affect ordinary people.

This is your chance to gain a better understanding of British and American politics, and judge for yourself whether it deserves its current image. In the wake of, what can only be described as, an ‘eventful’ 2016, there has never been a better time to study Government and Politics.

Course content

The new A Level course consists of three modules:

  • The Politics and Government of the UK
  • The Politics and Government of the USA
  • Core/Other Ideologies

Entry requirements

Formal – A minimum Grade B in English. Informal – A Grade B in GCSE History is desirable but not essential.
