Art (Fine Art), A Level at Oldham Sixth Form College (OSFC)
Are you passionate about drawing and painting? Do you want to experiment with a range of artistic techniques and processes? Here at OSFC we want to help you harness your creative skills to help you create your very own masterpieces, whilst also developing
your critical and analytical approach to art.
You’ll have the opportunity to go on a range of trips such as a residential to Paris or Barcelona, visits to galleries in London and Manchester, the Pre-degree Foundation course at The Oldham College and the Pre-degree Foundation and Degree shows at Manchester Metropolitan University. There are also opportunities to view the portfolios of visiting artists and designers and discuss with them their experience in art and design.
Component 1: You will produce practical work through drawing, painting and printmaking. This is a portfolio unit worth 60% of the marks.
Component 2. This is a set assignment worth 40% of the AS marks. You will choose one of five questions to be used as starting points and develop your work building on skills learnt in component 1.
Component 1. This is a personal investigation component which consists of coursework and is worth 60% of the marks. You will produce practical work through drawing, painting and printmaking leading to a final outcome.
Component 2. This is an assignment which is set by the exam board and is worth 40% of the marks. You will have a choice of eight questions which you will choose one as a starting point.
A minimum of 5 passes (above C or 4) at GCSE, including at least a 4 in Maths and English.
