Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Public uniformed Services at Telford College Of Arts And Technology - TCAT

Course description

This course is designed to prepare young men and women for
potential employment in one of the public uniformed services.
The daily routine includes drill and physical training followed by a
mixture of theory and practical sessions. Visiting speakers from
a range of public services will provide up to date information about
careers and the application and selection process for their service.
In addition students will have access to simulated work experience
through their course and some students may undertake real work
placement with our public service partners as part of their course.
Full Time Study Programmes are built around a collection of key
elements which all students benefit from, these include:
 
• Main Qualification in the subject of your choice
• English & mathematics qualifications for all students who have not
yet achieved A*- C grade in either subject
• Work Experience or External Work Placement which is planned
with you at the start of your course and links to your career goals
and ambitions
• Weekly Tutorial with your personal tutor
• A wide range of Enrichment Activities to support your broader
skills, such as team work or communication

Entry requirements

Extended Diploma level 3 (e.g. 3x A)

Learners who come in with minimum of 4 GCSE A-C and include both English and Maths at a C Grade

2 Year Course

Diploma level 3 (e.g. 2x A)

(Only in extreme circumstances with Director of approval)

Learners who come in with minimum of 4 GCSE @ C including English or Maths (full level 2 @ M or D & GCSE English C)

2 years course

Sub Diploma level 3 (e.g. 1x A)

Learners who come in with a minimum of 3 GCSE @ C+ English D grade, or FS Level 1 (or level 2 @ M or D)

1 Year course

Assessment

Units are assessed throughout the year through assignments,
coursework, and observation of practical activity.

Future opportunities

Various roles within the public services and armed services, or an
Advanced Apprenticeship.

Further information

Students are required to purchase uniform and there are additional
costs for residential visits, expeditions, camping and various public
service experiences.
All students will be encouraged to participate in extracurricular
activities (trips and workshops) these will be at an extra cost.
 
Further Study
Successful completion of this course will allow students to progress
to the Extended Diploma or to relevant Public Uniformed Service
university courses.
