Mathematics A Level at St Philomena's Catholic High School for Girls
Maths includes the study of Algebra, Calculus, Geometry and Trigonometry. Additionally students will study either Mechanics (forces and physical objects move or stay still) or Statistics (principles and methods of statistical analysis).
Grade A GCSE Mathematics.
A diagnostic test will be taken in the first two weeks of term, a minimum Grade E must be achieved to continue on the AS course.
Maths (C grade or above) and English (C grade or above) are both required
- Unit C1: Core 1
- Unit C2: Core 2
- Unit S1: Statistics
- Unit C3: Core 3
- Unit C4: Core 4
- Unit M1: Mechanics
Mathematics itself has many different branches and most degree courses allow some choice in the later stages. Maths is especially valuable for the study of Engineering, Architecture, Economics, the Medical Sciences and Research.
