Course description

This vocational, work-related course is offered as an Award.

You gain a broad understanding and knowledge of the health and social care sector and develop a range of personal skills and techniques that are essential for successful performance in working life. This course is available to students on Level 2 and Level 3 Pathways.

Course content

This is an ideal course to develop a range of skills and techniques that are essential for you to be successful at working at entry Level in the Health and Social Care sector, learn independent research skills and team working in the care industry.

Entry requirements

A minimum of three grade Ds and one grade E at GCSE which includes Maths and English. Pass in a Level 2 BTEC/OCR course will count as one GCSE equivalent.

Assessment

8 units of which 25% externally assessed by examination, and 75% coursework.

Financial information

First Aid Courses, Community and hospital visits to Nurseries, heltered Accommodation and a local play group.

 

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course may allow progression to a Level 3 Pathway at Strode’s or another College and in to jobs or further qualifications in health and social care, such as play work, caring for the elderly or being involved in youth work.
