Skills for working Life Entry Level 2 at Southport College
This a two year study programme that is tailored to the student’s individual needs, it encourages learners to develop skills and techniques that are transferable to the world of work. It will continually be developing their Maths and English skills and offers clear progression routes; either onto Entry 3 or supported living
The first year provides a foundation by developing life skills, encouraging learners to be more independent, develop a range of communication skills, improving
self esteem and confidence. As part of the study programme travel training will be provided to allow the students to become independent travellers.
The second year of the study programme will be determined by their chosen progression route.
A student who would like to progress to Entry 3 study programmes within vocational areas will study a programme that will develop their employability skills and involve regular taster sessions within the vocational
A student who would like to progress to supported living will study a programme that will develop their independent living skills such as cookery, money management and will involve some volunteering experience
Successful interview and initial assessment
You will be continuously assessed through internal tasks that develop into portfolios which are internally marked and externally verified.
Students collect evidence to show their skills and knowledge. They put together a file to show what they have learnt or know. Tutors may help collect evidence, for example, take photographs or write witness statements.
This course is designed to give you the confidence and skills to progress on to one of the Entry 3 vocational courses or move towards independent living.
