AS and A2 units and content: AS Unit 1 – Biology and disease Unit 2 – The variety of living organisms Unit 3 – Investigative and practical skills in AS Biology A2 Unit 4 – Populations and environment Unit 5 – Control in cells and in organisms Unit 6 – Investigative and practical skills A2 Biology

Entry requirements

Grades BB or higher in core and additional GCSE Science is required, or discrete sciences. A grade B or above in GCSE Maths is also necessary.

Future opportunities

Any science related career path – Biologist, Teacher, Doctor or Nurse.You could take this course with other advanced level courses, which overlap with Biology such as Chemistry, Applied Science, Physics, Geography, Geology or more general subjects that may not relate to the sciences, to prepare for higher education. With further training, you could go into a job related to Biology or one of the other sciences such as a Doctor, Nurse, Scientist or Marine Biologist. The course will also help you to develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
