Sociology 'AS & A2' at Temple Moor High School

Course description

Sociology is a subject that you will be able to relate to. It’s relevant to your everyday lives and you will immediately engage with the subject. Studying Sociology encourages you to develop critical and reflective thinking skills, and a respect for social diversity.


Course content

AS only you will study the following TOPICS:
Unit 1: Education with MIC
Unit 2: Research Methods
If you take the Full A2 you will also study the
following TOPICS:
Unit 2 Religion
Unit 3: Crime & deviance with sociological theory and methods


Entry requirements

Dedication towards achievement is desirable. Excellent attendance is
essential and a willingness to learn is compulsory. Admission may be dependent on the individual.

You will require 5 GCSE's at grade 4 and above.


100% examination at the end of either AS or A2.

Sociology is now linear. All exams are to be taken in the final year of study.

Sociology is the study of people and therefore the skills and knowledge you develop within the course are relevant to a wide variety of careers:

Community/Social Work, Housing Manager,
Information Scientist, Journalist.
