Is English Literature for me?It is an ideal course for those of you who love reading, reading and reading! Do you take an active interest in people, their lives, intrigues and actions? Do you like discussing what you have read with others? Are you interested in poetry, drama and prose? Can you write clearly about your views on what you have read? If you have answered YES to all these questions, then ‘A’ Level English Literature is for you!What will I be studying in English Literature?In the second year, at A2, you will study another 3 units: Pre-1900 Poetry, Coursework and Pre-1700 Drama.What can I do with ‘A’ Level English Literature?It can be part of a package of ‘A’ Levels that gives you access to a variety of university courses and careers from Journalism, Media Studies to Teacher Training or Advertising. Some students actually read English Literature for their degree. English Literature ‘A’ Level also helps you to develop your analytical and essay writing skills.

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses or equivalent to prepare for higher education in English studies or more general higher education courses.With further training, you could go into a job related to English Literature such as a Teacher, Journalist, Author or Poet. The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
