Geography AS/A2 at Tech City College

Course description

Do human beings control their environment, or does our environment control us? How are we influenced by the world around us? How do we use and change it? Studying A-level Geography will give you the opportunity to explore all these questions, and to develop key fieldwork and research skills - qualities valued by employers and universities. If you are interested in environmental and global issues this course will give you the opportunity to examine some of the key ideas and debates in our world today, as well as undertake a practical study on a residential trip to the coast.

Entry requirements

6 GCSEs at grade C or above including: Mathematics. A minimum grade B in English and Geography.


You will be assessed through written examination.

Future opportunities

A-level Geography is essential if you want to study geography at degree level. It is also a required subject for a number of related courses, such as geology and earth science. Many employers acknowledge the value of the practical skills involved and the qualification can open doors to careers in a wide range of related areas including conservation, leisure and tourism, planning and environmental agencies.
