Course description

The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate and Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care have been designed to enable learners to access Higher Education or to assist with progression into the workplace.

These qualifications cover a wide range of key subject areas in health and social care. The Extended Diploma includes a wide range of optional units, allowing learners to pursue an interest in specific areas of social care, health studies and health sciences, while still allowing enough diversity for the optional units to be tailored to suit a learner's preferred progression path.

These qualifications promote high-quality care and support and have been mapped to the standards within the Care Certificate.

Course content

The core mandatory units are:

  • Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
  • Human growth and development
  • Safeguarding in health and social care
  • Communication in health and social care
  • Infection prevention and control in health and social care
  • Psychological perspectives in health and social care
  • Sociological perspectives in health and social care
  • Working in health and social care
  • Reflective practice.

Entry requirements

NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate requires 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, including Maths and English.

NCFE CACHE Level 3 Extended Diploma requires 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, including Maths, English and Science.

Assessment

You will be continuously assessed through your assignment tasks. Assignments are set throughout the year, so you will know how well you are doing with regular one-to-one feedback from your tutor.

Future opportunities

Upon achievement of the Level 3 certificate learners will be able to progress onto the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. The Certificate supports learners' access to Higher Education (if they have UCAS points from previous study) and progression into a wide range of job roles within the health and social care sector. The qualification also supports progression to further learning in related subject areas at level 4 and above.

Achievement of the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care supports learners' access to Higher Education and progression into a wide range of job roles within the health and social care sector, including nursing and midwifery.
