Bricklaying Construction Diploma - Level 1 at Vision West Nottinghamshire College

Course description

This is a practical course designed to develop the skills and job-related knowledge required for a career in brickwork. Units include building methods, construction technology, bricklaying and cavity walling.

Course content

The course consists of units which cover basic blocklaying and bricklaying skills, basic cavity walling, building methods and construction technology.

Entry requirements

  • GCSEs with at least 3 points (grade D) in maths and English or an equivalent plus an aptitude test OR
  • The Entry Level Diploma in Construction Skills.
  • Consideration will be given to 19+ learners who may not have formal qualifications but industry experience.

You will need to attend an interview with the tutor before being accepted on to the course. You may also need to supply at least one written reference from a teacher or employer (in some cases two) and/or your current school or college report.

Mature students (those aged 21 or over) who do not have the qualifications required for entry may still be eligible, subject to an interview. Relevant experience, a strong portfolio of work and a commitment to the subject you wish to study may be acceptable for certain courses.
