Hospitality and Catering Intermediate Apprenticeship at Weston College

Course description

Apprenticeships are all about learning on the job. You’ll spend most of your week at work – in a hotel, restaurant, country club, café or school. You may come to college for a day a week for practical training, theory and demos. You’ll have the chance to learn about your area of hospitality and catering, and get the skills you need for your career. Depending on where you work, you will choose pathways that relate to your job such as: hospitality services, food and beverage service, front of house/reception, professional cookery, beverage services, food production and cooking.

Skills in Maths and English will be embedded into your academic/ vocational learning. If you do not have a grade C in Maths and/or English you will attend a discrete GCSE or Functional Skills class as part of your weekly timetable.

Entry requirements

You will need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this. You will also need a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D or above or a Level 1 qualification.

Assessment

We’ll assess your practical skills and observe you at work. You’ll get your own personal assessor who will visit you at work, review how you’re getting on and make sure you’re on target to get your qualifications. You will also have to take tests.
