Geography AS level at The Dukeries Academy

Course description

AS Geography consists of two sections:

Paper 1 - Landscape systems, processes and change - 1 hour 30 minutes (50%)

1. Tectonic processes and hazards

2. Coastal Landscapes and change

Paper 2- Dynamic Places - 1 hour 30 minutes (50%)

1. Globalisation

2. Regenerating places

AS students must complete a minimum of 2 days fieldwork. In both papers 1 and 2 students will need to answer one question based on fieldwork.


Entry requirements

GCSE Geography grade B. 5 A*-C (level 5 or above) grades at GCSE (including English and Maths).

Future opportunities

This subject can be studied at University or used to accrue UCAS points towards the study of other degree courses. The subject is also able to show employers that you are literate, numerate and able to process information and data in order to problem solve. The course provides opportunities to work independently, in small groups or as a larger team. Geography is an excellent subject to combine with a wide range of other subjects and has a wide variety of career possibilities.
