Sociology A/S at Immanuel College

Course description

Interested in how society around you functions, how you are educated to join in, how what we believe reflects our society, and is reflected in it, and what happens when people break societies rules and avoid its expectations? Sociology trains you to think about these issues, a particular way of thining called sociological imagination.

Course content

Sociology is a highly respected A-Level and one that has been very successful at Immanuel. We will study the AQA specification focusing on Families and Households, Education and Research Skills in year 12, and on Beliefs in Society, Crime and Deviance and Theory and Methods in Year 13.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE grades A-C which can include BTEC First Awards at Merit or Distinction.

Further information

Sociology is not only a valuable GCE to offer for a wide range of University courses from English to Law, Social Policy to Psychology, but an interesting study in itself.
