BTEC National Extended Certificate in Art & Design at Altrincham College

Course description

A highly practical course that offers each student the opportunity to develop an exciting and very personalised portfolio of work whilst still expreimenting and experiencing skills in areas ranging from Fine Art, 2D and 3D work, drawing , painting, printmaking, design ceramics, computer design, photography and contextual studies. part of the course also includes visits to galleries, museums and exhibitions.

1 Optional Unit:

Fine Art Materials, Techniques and Processes

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade A* - C including English Language and Maths and a strong portfolio of work. A minimum of Grade C at GCSE Art and Design, Graphics or Textiles.

Assessment

This is a coursework based qulaification with no examinations.

There are 4 core units which students must complete and another 2 units that are made up of specialised programmes of study.

This qualification is equivalent to 1 A level

Future opportunities

Students can use this qualification to progress to university or to sudy a foundation degree. Some may enter a specialist area of employment.
