Welding & Fabrication Apprenticeship Level 3 at Malvern Hills College
This qualification is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). It involves the skills and knowledge needed for occupations in fabrication and welding, as well as the ability to organise work and identify and prevent problems.
The Apprenticeship will cover units including (but not limited to):
- Manual welding
- Welding machine setting and operation
- Sheet or plate metal working
- Pipe and tube fabrication
This Apprenticeship usually takes two years to complete. You will be working at your place of employment and you will be required to attend College (in Evesham) for day release.
You need to be aged between 16 and 24 and currently employed in the welding and fabrication industry. You will need to have obtained the Level 2 Welding and Fabrication Apprenticeship, or similar relevant qualification. Alternatively if you have proven relevant industry experience you may be eligible to access Level 3 directly.
You will be assessed on your practical competence through regular visits and assessments by an appointed Instructor/Assessor. You will also be assessed by carrying out online tests and internally set practical/theory tests which will fulfil the requirement of the Technical Certificate.
On successful completion of the programme you will have the skills required to move into industry specific standards like coded welding.
