BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure - Futsal at HCT's Education Academy

Course description

The Level 1 Futsal and Education Programme is a specialist work related course built around the BTEC First Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure covering the foundations of sport such as team work and leadership. This course particularly suits those wanting to enter employment in the sport and active leisure sector as you will gain valuable work experience whilst completing the BTEC Certificate in Workskills. To top it all off you can gain valuable English and Maths qualifications and the Beginners Guide to Futsal coaching award.
 
Alongside the academic aspect of the course, you will also become a player and a scholar within a professional football club and compete within the Football League Trust’s Futsal League competing at the best arenas across the country.

Course content

The course in made up of 12 units and looks at a variety of different areas of sport including:

  • Planning own Fitness Programme
  • Job opportunities in Sport & Active Leisure
  • Taking Part in Sport
  • Assisiting a Leader of Sport or Active Leisure Activities to Plan and Deliver an Activity
  • Assisting at a Sport or Active Leisure Event
  • Working in a Team

The Level 1 Certificate in Workskills will be taught alongside the studies including:

  • Searching for a Job
  • Applying for a Job
  • Preparing for an Interview
  • Interview Skills
  • Career progression 
Functional Skills English & Maths will also be delivered alongside your sports studies.
 
The Beginners Guide to Futsal is an added coaching qualification that will look great on your CV as you seek employment in the sport and leisure industry.

Entry requirements

No previous qualifications necessary but a keen interest in sport is desirable.

Assessment

All units are assessed through assignments which are submitted via the interactive learning platform in a variety of formats; these include written reports, posters, practical sports, demonstrations, group tasks, interviews, practical coaching, presentations, work experience, projects, performance observation and time-constrained assessments.

Future opportunities

The BTEC qualifications in Sport have been developed to meet employer needs in the sport and active leisure sector and to give full-time learners the opportunity to enter employment in this sector or to progress to further education.
 
In particular this course prepares students for the Football League Trust Level 2 Education and Futsal Programme as well as employment in the sport and active leisure industry.

    • The Education Academy based at The Zone HCT are offering individuals aged 16 to 18 years old, both male and female, the opportunity to gain a BTEC Level 1, 2 or 3 by joining the Football League Trust Education and Futsal Programme or a BTEC National in Dance.

      The Zone HCT (Huddersfield Community Trust) is a lesiure facility adjacent to the John Smith's Stadium, home of Huddersfield Town and Huddersfield Giants.
