Music BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Hove Park School and Sixth Form Centre

Course description

This BTEC looks at various aspects of the music industry and sound production and develops students’ skills, giving them further development in their own musical abilities as well as giving them the skills needed to take up employment in this sector. The BTEC National Award offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the music industry. The BTEC National Award is a qualification that can extend a learner’s programme of study or provide vocational emphasis for learners wishing to make it into a career.

Entry requirements

Previous musical experience is essential. GCSE in Music and English at grade C or above is desirable but not essential. A love and passion for the subject is also a must.


There will be an external assessment that students will need to prepare for.

Future opportunities

The music industry is a varied and wide field offering various opportunities from performer to composer, teacher, session musician, and sound producer to name a few. Students can also use this qualification to further their studies.
