A Level Chemistry at Altrincham College
Course description
Students will study aspects of chemistry that are often in the media and affect their lives. You will develop knowledge and understanding to explain many different aspects of contemporary chemistry, including climate change, green chemistry, pharmaceuticals and chemistry research.
Course content
Physical Chemistry, inorganic chemistry and relevant practical skills
Physical Chemistry, organic chemistry and relevant practical skills
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English Language and Maths. Students should have studied triple science at GCSE and should have gained a grade A or above in Chemistry and Mathematics.
Assessment
Linear A Levels are externally assessed courses with examinations covering all units sat at the end of Y13. All student will have exams at the end of Y12 to benchamrk progress. The results will be used as an indicator that a student has the capability to progress onto Y13 and complete A Level.
