Assessment

The course requires a high standard of analytical and practical skills in relation to sports performance.

At AS you will study a unit which includes Anatomy and Physiology, Acquiring movement skills and Socio-cultural studies This unit accounts for 60% of the AS course and is assessed via a 2hr exam. Your sporting ability will also be assessed in a practical assessment - this is worth 30% of the AS course. The remaining 10% is assessed via a presentation where your ability to observe, analyse and evaluate a performance from a sport of your choice is examined. A2 builds upon the skills and knowledge developed in Year 12.

The department will use a variety of techniques to engage students in the subject. These can include: practical lessons, applying theory to performance situations, performance analysis and evaluation. We prepare our students thoroughly for the different components of the A-level so be prepared to answer exam questions and have your knowledge tested on a monthly basis.
