The BTEC nationals are assignment based. The teacher / assessor who have delivered the unit of work will assess the work you have done and ensure that it meets the correct criteria. Each unit is assessed using the grading grid and grading criteria at Pass, Merit and Distinction.
You must achieve a pass for all the PASS Grading Grid criteria. Once you have achieved a PASS criteria, your teacher (Assessor) will give you guidance and support as to what you need to do in order to achieve a Merit award. Once you have successfully completed your Merit award you can then move onto the Distinction award.
You do not have to go any further than a PASS award, however, we encourage ALL students to make as much effort as possible. Therefore we encourage you to achieve the maximum award on every occasion.
