Health and Social Care (Health Sciences) BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 at New College Nottingham

Course description

This is a modular course, which is both academic and practical. 

Students will study 18 units over 2 years including:

  • Human physiology  
  • Social development  
  • Behavioural sciences  
  • Biochemistry  
  • Environmental health  
  • Applied science   
  • Health promotion  

Students will spend one day a week working at an approved work placement.

Entry requirements

Students must have the following:  

  • 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C, including English, Maths and Science or equivalent - Functional Skills may be accepted in place of GCSE Maths and/or English

Students aged 19+ who have industry experience BUT do not have the necessary qualifications can be invited in for interview

Assessment

Each unit is assessed by assignments throughout the two-year course. Two assignments are externally assessed and the others are assessed internally and undergo moderation.

Future opportunities
