IT Level 2 at Itchen College

Course description

If you have a basic knowledge of computing and IT and wish to develop this knowledge in a practical way, this qualification is for you.

This course is for you if... have a keen interest in IT combined with a basic competence in application software such as spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software.

Course content

This course is practical and work related. Throughout the year you will study four units, with two core units and two specialist units.

Core Units

  • Unit 1: communicating in the IT industry
  • Unit 2: working in the IT industry

Specialist Units

  • Unit 17: customising software
  • Unit 23: Spreadsheet modelling

Entry requirements

A range of GCSEs at grade 3 and D or above. 

Additional guidance is available at interview.

Future opportunities

The vocational Level 2 is a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification. Students can progress to the more advanced vocational Level 3 qualifications or seek employment in the IT sector.

Further information

Students will have the opportunity to gain practical experience of IT, which will allow them to apply these skills in employment or develop them in further education.
